Are these racquets worth anything?
I didn’t see either on ebay so hoping someone here can help
First is a Bancroft “Tear Drop”, grip size 4 1/2
Second is a Penn “Royal Court”, grip size 4 1/2 and I have the original cover for it.
Penn looks to be unused, previous owner’s backup I guess. Bancroft has some use but not much.
I don’t know the Royal Court
But the Bancroft Tear Drop is worth little except as decor. It is 1970′s wood racquet – a last gasp attempt by non-technological manufacturer to try to keep up with the onslaught of metal and carbon fiber racquet that were starting to appear.
In the later years of wood racquets, probably the only interesting models are the Dunlop MaxPly – the first to use World War I airplane construction techniques and perhaps the Wilson Jack Kramer / Ponco Gonzales racquet which was a copy of the MaxPly. All the others are just old sticks.
